This is almost a "bug report" and not a hint. However, it's a hint for those who have had the same problem I've had since installing 10.3. Have you noticed that if you make a new folder (Shift-Command-N), then type in the name of the folder and then open the folder (Command-O), that your folder does not retain the name you just typed in?

You can avoid this problem by making sure that you type a RETURN after you type the folder name and before you open the folder.

[robg adds: I had trouble reproducing this problem, and finally figured out why -- it's only present in List view. If you use Column view (as I do) or Icon view, folder naming works as expected without the Return. I'd definitely call that bug!]
