My friend has a Microtek ScanMaker 4800. Microtek has not yet released Panther compatible software. It seems a few extraneous applications and drivers are installed when using the current driver installation package. These may cause incompatibilities, instabilities, or even an OS X beach ball party. So, follow these simple directions to get you Microtek scanner up.
**NOTE: The Microtek step by step for Panther is useless and inaccurate. DO NOT FOLLOW IT!
-
Download this installation package only! sw5_v701_macx_jag.dmg
- Mount the dmg on your desktop.
- Open the folder called "Packages" and you should see several seperate installers.
- You will need to run two of the installers. First, install "ScanWizard 5 V7.01.pkg".
- Next find the corresponding installation package for your scanner model and install it. It should look something like "SM****-SW5 V1.**.pkg". Treat the asterisks as a wild card.
- Reboot
You scanner should now work.
