Installed fonts may cause Adobe app install issues

I had some trouble installing Adobe products (Illustrator CS, Photoshop CS, Acrobat 6). The installers (and the self-healing mechanism of Acobat) crashed after the authentication, but before displaying the EULA, giving the following error in the CrashReporter log (in /Library/Logs/CrashReporter/):

Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)
Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE (0x0002) at 0x00000000

Thread 0 Crashed:

Apparently the problem was related to some fonts in the /Library/Fonts/ folder, even though no defective fonts were found in this folder (I checked with different tools). After removing all fonts from this folder, and after a reboot, I was able to install the software.

[robg adds: I didn't have any issues installing Acrobat 6 (and I have a couple of dozen fonts in /Library/Fonts), but I don't own any of the other Adobe apps, so I'm not sure if this is a pervasive issue or not.]
