Use MidiKeys as a virtual keyboard for Garageband Apps

Don't yet have a USB or MIDI keyboard? Want to play around with instruments in GarageBand without using the mouse? You need the free program MidiKeys, which turns your regular keyboard into a virtual Midi keyboard. You can play multiple notes at once, and though it's obviously missing much of the functionality of a real musical keyboard, it's good enough for tinkering. Note that you'll need to switch to MidiKeys to play, so start GarageBand recording first, then switch.

I assume you meant Panther. It works fine so far. I use it with Reason.

Use MidiKeys as a virtual keyboard for Garageband

This is a great solution for me, I am only using it for a bass line and I didn't want to spend $100-$150 on a midi keyboard, or a bass ;)

My tip submission was slightly incorrect - you can actually use MidiKeys with Garageband in front. Look up the preferences for MidiKeys; you can set a modifier to hold to let MidiKeys take over your keyboard from the background. Could be handy.
