Make iChat AV work with both sides using NAT Network
if you are using openbsd 3.4 or any other stateful firewall, the firewall should have an option to keep the source port (iChat 16384 as an example) the same, meaning that the firewall shouldn't translate the source port of the outgoing packet.

The option in openbsd is static-port at the very end of your nat entry. By doing so, I was able to connect with a friend (openbsd 3.4 firewall) with no problem. Just make sure that the appropriate ports are forwarded to the iChat client; i.e. 5060 UDP and the port ranges 16384 to 16403 (also UDP).

Is this possible with MSN's filetransfer also? Is there any free firewalls with this ability out there that you recomend?

I dont' really follow this post. Is this something that can help me with my concern? == that I want to be able to connect with audio and video to a colleague in another country, on my 802.11b network. He and I both have powermacs + iSight. I dont know his corp firewall situation, but I have my snow airport base station set up as a wireless access point to the Vigor 2600 ADSL modem on 256K internet service.

Or would connecting my powerbook to the ADSL router via ethernet eliminate issues I may have?

(note: I dont yet have my iSight, its on its way - I want to be prepared for the worst of connectivity issues!)

Before I found your post, I came up with a different answer, also using OpenBSD's pf: binat. I wrote up my problem and solution here: iChat AV NAT Woes. Unfortunately, I'm still having an issue and haven't been able to resolve it, even after my NAT woes were taken care of: iChat AV iSightCamera Drops Out. Does anyone recognize this problem? Is my camera just faulty somehow? Is there some log I can look in that will give me more information? Nothing interesting comes out of dmesg or on a Console window.
