10.3: Use the x-man-page URL type to open UNIX man pages Internet
The Terminal application in Panther supports the x-man-page URL type. That is, the following URL, when used with Safari or the open command, will open a Terminal window with the ls man page displayed:
x-man-page://ls
[robg adds: This style of link will probably work from anything that supports active URLs; I pasted it in iChat and it also worked directly from there when clicked, and it also worked in Mozilla, IE, etc.]

Cool Hint! Here's an addition.

Here's an addition to the hint for those who use Mozilla
1. Create a new bookmark.
2 Edit the bookmark.
a. Type this into the URL field x-man-page://%s
b. Type a keyword into the keyword field. Example m
3. Save the new book mark.
4. Type m ls into mozilla's address field. Viola the man page for ls appears. Will also work to look up other *NIX commands - as long as they have a manual entry.

No, doesn't work in Firefox. Too bad someone doesn't have a web site with keyword-searchable OS X man pages.

By the way, why the heck does this forum take me away from the post topic as soon as I login? Very irritating.
