10.3: Create a keyboard shortcut to check Mail in one account Apps
My wife and I share the same Mac OS X account since I personally find it a pain to deal with multiple accounts. Anyway, since we both have our own email accounts set up in Mail.app, when we select or hit the keyboard shortcut for Get Mail, it retrieves mail for both accounts. This is usually not what either of us want. I want to get my mail and my mail only, and the same for my wife. To accomplish this, you normally have to go to Mailbox -> Get Mail, and then select the one account you want. Now, however, since Panther supports creating your own keyboard shortcuts for any app (as detailed here), you can create your own shortcut for each email account.

So, following the directions from the link above, you select Mail then type the menu item for the mail account exactly as it appears. So for me, I added "Gary's Mail" and "Bridget's Mail" and assigned F1 and F2 respectively. You will enter whatever Description you gave to your accounts in the Mail Preferences -> Accounts area. Now I just hit F1 to check my mail, my wife hits F2. Life is good that way.

Make sure you quit Mail and relaunch it for the shortcuts to take effect!
