Rick LePage, head cool guy over at Macworld Magazine, emailed a pointer to an interesting article over at hivelogic.com.
Turning A Mac Into A Fax Server describes (without a ton of detail; this is not necessarily a beginner's article) what it takes to turn a spare Panther-capable Mac into your own personal fax receiving server.
If you've got an older Mac that's Panther capable but not in use, this is one way to put it to good use -- though I don't believe the article addresses using the spare machine to also send faxes; it just discusses how to receive faxes and display them using the built-in web browser. Still, it's an interesting use of built-in the built-in fax and webserver, along with the mail server and folder actions (to power an email notification engine).
