Launch applications and documents via the Script menu

In Panther, you can use the AppleScript script menu to launch applications and documents like you would in the OS 9 Apple menu. Just put aliases of applications and documents into /Library -> Scripts -> (submenus) or /Users -> your_user -> Library -> Scripts -> (submenus).

If you put them inside the application name folders (i.e. iTunes, Finder) in either of those locations, then the aliases will be accessible only within those applications.

You need to activate the script menu first by double-clicking /Applications -> AppleScript -> Install Script Menu.app. An icon that looks like curly paper will appear on your menubar. I'm not sure if this is in fact a bug or a feature. Whatever it is, I hope they won't 'fix' it in the future!

[robg adds: Amazing but true, this works just as described! So if you lament the passing of the OS 9 Apple menu, just create your own hierarchy of folders within your user's Scripts folder, populate the list with your favorite aliases, and off you go!]
