Copy portions of hyperlinks in Mail

Although I generally like Mail's "auto-encoding" of http:// (and other) URL strings, sometimes I need to copy and paste just a snippet of the URL into another application, and that requires a couple extra steps -- either click the URL and then select/copy from the web browser, or copy the URL plus some intro/trailing text into a text editor and work on it there.

I figured there must be a better way ... and I found it this morning. Just hold down the Command key. Although the "hand" cursor won't change, you'll find you can now select any text within the URL and hit Command-C to copy it (you can also click-and-hold with Command down and then drag the partial snippet wherever you'd like to use it).
