10.3: Use TextEdit to save damaged Word documents Apps
The new TextEdit 1.3 that comes with Panther can open and save in the Word format, as you hopefully know. But it can also open damaged Word documents that Word says are unreadable, and that's a great new feature. I got a Word document from a mail that could not open in Word but TextEdit opened it flawlessly.

I have not checked to see what kind of content it can open but pure text documents works great.
