Use emoticons in iChat AV status messages Apps

I'm not sure how useful this is, but it's kinda fun. If you enter the keystrokes for the iChatAV emoticons into your custom available or away message, the corresponding smiley will appear in your friend's buddy list. Sad to say :'(, the emoticon doesn't appear with your custom message in your own window, only on your buddies' windows.

happy to see the southpark icon i designed at the early beginning of macosx (macosx beta distributed at the apple expo in paris)

Does anyone know a way to change my picture to an emoticon when I type an emoticon while *chatting* (not just while setting my away message)?

That would be sweet -- an apple script to analyze the text I type in the chat window, and pick out emoticons (or any other keywords) and change my picture accordingly.

This works in iChat (pre-AV).
