Much about the toolbar of Finder and application windows can be controlled from the widget in the upper right corner.
- Upon putting a commonly used folder in the Toolbar, I was disappointed to see that its name was not included. However, holding down on the command key while clicking on the widget with the mouse will cycle the Toolbar through every combination of small icons or large icons with no text, small icons or large icons with text, or small and large text only. This can also be done by choosing "Customize Toolbar" from the Finder's view menu. This also works in Mail, Preview, Console, or most anything else with a Toolbar to be customized. This leads us to:
- Holding down on the Command and Option keys while clicking the widget with your mouse will bring down the "Customize Toolbar" pane without going up to the View menu. This also works in Mail, Preview, Console, or most anything else with a Toolbar to be customized.
- A Control-Click in the toolbar brings up a contextual menu to achieve 1 and 2 above, although the size of text and icons cannot be adjusted in this manner.
