How to move a message to a single-account Mail inbox

If you use Mail with a single POP account, you may have noticed that you can't move a message to the In folder. Instead, you get a dialogue stating: "Error: The destination mailbox does not exist."

A bit of Googling (tm) turned up this web page, which has an archive of a message explaining that POP does not support this. Further down the page, there's a workaround -- but it requires creating a dummy POP account in Mail, which isn't particularly appealing. On the off chance, I tried using the File menu to "Cut" the message from it's old folder, and "Paste" it into the In box. Voila: no error!

Presumably, this won't have an effect of the state on the POP mailbox, but I don't care about that, so long as the message is in the right folder on my Mac.
