Activate the screensaver after any length of idle time System
You can set the time before your screensaver kicks in to be any duration you like (I wanted something less than the three minutes that Apple lets you have as minumum), by editing a property list file in your user's Library -> Preferences -> ByHost -> com.apple.screensaver.[some string].plist.

Change the idleTime property (it's in seconds) to whatever you want, and log out to make it take effect.

You can use the System Preferences: Select the Desktop & Screensaver button then - Select screensaver button and use slider to select any time you desire to activate screensaver

FWIW, the "[some string]" part will be your machine's Ethernet address as shown in the System Profiler (System Profile tab, Network Overview section) with the full stops omitted.
