I always hit the play button so iPhoto 2.0 runs a slideshow of the selected album. It displays the images in fullscreen mode. The other day, I accidentally hit the play button with my mouse while holding down the Control key. Now the slideshow appeared in a window instead which can be useful is certain situations.

I don't know if the is common knowledge for others, but it's news to me!

[robg adds: Amazing! I've wanted this in iPhoto since the first time I used it -- I seldom want a full-screen slideshow (that's what the screensaver and/or desktop imagery are for). In playing around with this feature, I found that the window that opens is resizable -- just grab the corner and pull (or push -- you can make postage-stamp size slideshows with nicely scaled images!). The resize feature is a bit buggy; after resizing, close and re-open the slideshow window, and all the images will be properly sized. I wish I could re-map the button to always send a control-click!]

Now if only there were a way to save the slide show as a Quicktime movie, fades and all!

Can't you just import pics into iMovie and do the fades you want to create a movie? Works for me.

Re-Map button to Windowed Mode

It should be possible to open the iPhoto window in Interface Builder (like we used to need to do in iPhoto 1.1 to enable the Enhance feature) and connect the button to the alternate signal. I don't have time to check right now, but it seems likely.

Amazing, I too have wanted this, forever.
But, I cannot resize larger without a garbage border. How do you close and reopen a slide show, per previous reply?

Cheers, mrpablo

Just resize the window, then close it, then re-control-click the slideshow button...
