Check out Text Reader. This donationware utility takes a text file and allows you to export it to an audio AIFF file, or directly into iTunes. Now check out the Guttenberg Project, which is a great source for free electronic books.

What I've done is to download a text file of "The Prince" and "The Art of War" and exported them to an audio file I play under iTunes. You have to experiment with the Apple built in voices ... Vicki is new in 10.3, but I've chosen Fred for "The Prince." Just picture it ... you are at the gym working out and listening to the "Art of War" or some other Project Guttenberg online book! Not as slick as audible.com I admit but cheaper. Be sure to give Text Reader's suggested donation, OK?
