10.3: Use Jaguar's Internet preference pane in Panther

Lately I've heard a lot of complaint from Panther users about Apple's decision to move the Default Web Browser and Default Mail Reader settings out of the Internet preference pane and into Safari and Mail's application preferences. Systemwide settings, they argue, belong in System Preferences. I tend to agree, so I decided to take my Internet preferences back.

Fortunately for us, the Internet preference pane from Jaguar works perfectly under Panther. Just copy /System -> Library -> PreferencePanes -> Internet.prefPane from any version of Jaguar into the /Library -> PreferencePanes folder in Panther and you're done.

[robg adds: I didn't test this one, but no real harm should come from trying it -- just be aware that future system upgrades might (though I doubt it) overwrite that file, so keep a spare copy lying around just in case.]
