Mount DVDs as ISO images to resolve mounting issues System
I had problems mounting a DVD on my G4 PowerBook 867 -- the CD drive made funny sounds and just ejected the disc. However, Apple's Knowledge Base (article #25000) was very helpful, as it includes this tidbit:
Press the Command, Option, and I keys while inserting the DVD-Video disc. This causes the computer to read the disc as an ISO 9660 formatted disc, rather than a UDF formatted disc.
I tried it, and was able to mount the DVD on my machine.

Old hint, but still useful for me today though. Thanks.

It doesn't seem to work with 10.4.3 - the machine just beeps at me whilst holding down that key combination.

Yes, I'm seeing the same thing. My Powerbook has begun to display some strange optical drive issues. Not mounting the DVD on insertion is one of them. If I keep putting reinserting the DVD it eventually mounts. 15" TiBook 1Ghz w/ 1GB RAM.

I've also seen some strange CD burning behavior where it errors out saying it couldn't calibrate the device....again, retries eventually make it work correctly. Too bad my apple care is up. If there is an OS X 10.4.x solution to this, I'd almost pay for it...
