10.3: Use Address Book's new instant messenger ID fields Apps

Mac OS X 10.3's Address Book (version 3.1) has added the ability to add instant messaging ID's for the Yahoo!, ICQ, Jabber and MSN networks. I've put together some AppleScripts to take advantage of this new feature. After installing the scripts, you need to restart Address Book for the changes to take effect. I have put up a page containing the scripts for easy downloading.

[robg adds: I have not tested these scripts, but I have looked at the source code and they look fine to me...]

I'd love to see a script for aim that does the same. It's the only messenger that I use, so all I can do is hope for an aim script soon.

Cool script but only accounts for @yahoo.com e-mail addresses. There is more out there: @yahoo.ca, @yahoo.fr, @yahoo.it... so probably matching @yahoo would do the trick.

I have Jaguar (10.2.8) and you can already do that. It's manual from the top menu. I am not using my mac now so I can't give you the name, but it's possible adding manually the fields.

Your scripts to start Yahoo Messenger or ICQ are still useful.

Menu:
Card > Add Field > Instant Messaging

note, you can also add a single birthday field (useless for husband and wife addresses, etc.), and
Phonetic First and Last Names for Speaking, I guess
