When running Sherlock in 10.3, I found that all the standard Apple channels were missing. This may have been from installing some of my own custom channels when running 10.2. I found an Apple Discussions tip which worked for me. You just have to delete your Sherlock preferences. Where "~" means "your home directory," delete ~/Library -> Preferences -> com.apple.sherlock.plist and the ~/Library -> Preferences -> Sherlock folder to see Apple's channels again.

10.3: Find Sherlock's missing channels
An update: If your channels have disappeared in Sherlock under 10.4, or if Sherlock is stuck, quit Sherlock then delete these three things:
10.3: Find Sherlock's missing channels
Sherlock 3 is behaving strangely. I can't get the channels to work properly after I have trashed the preferences described in the earlier posts. They will work once after the reload from Apple site. If I close Sherlock or restart my G5 running Tiger, I usually get the "searching circle" to continue to rotate. I have tried the trashing preferences several times with similar results. Each time the reload from Apple allows me one successful search before each channel seems to "lock up" and doesn't produce search results. Very frustrating and puzzeling! I had trashed the Sherlock 3.6.1 app yesterday before I discovered these posts hoping to get it to work from a "backup" drive copy of Sherlock 3.6.0. I have looked all over the place to find an installer for only Sherlock 3, but can't find one. I don't want to have to reinstall Tiger again just to install Sherlock 3.6.1. Thanks for any assistance with issue. |
