If you have a section of a document you want to use as a graphic and would like to "highlight" a portion of the text, as seen at right, simply:
- Open the document in Preview (using Print -> Preview or other methods).
- Use Preview's new Select Tool (Tools -> Select Tool, or just Command-3) to select the portion of text you want to illustrat.
- Zoom the selected portion to fill the window using View -> Zoom to Selection (or just hit Shift-Command*) .
- Again use the Select Tool to select the portion of text to highlight, and the surrounding text will slightly grayed out, highlighting the desired text as seen in the screenshot.
- Use screen capture's Command-Shift-f4 to capture the window contents to a file or add the Control key to the mix to capture it to the clipboard.
This is useful for annotating documents on the web, or for use in keynote/powerpoint presentations.
