10.3: Set labeled item order with numerical prefixes Desktop
You can define how labeled items are ordered in your Finder windows by going to the Labels tab in Finder Preferences and assigning a number to the name boxes. For example, for the Red label, rename it with a "1" in the first character position (i.e. "1 Important Items"). Do this with all 7 labels, and then the next time you are in Icon view or List view the labeled items will be ordered according to their numbers. Here are two examples: Icon View and List View

Without the numerical prefix, labeled items are ordered alphabetically.

10.3: Set labeled item order with numerical prefixes
Authored by: sipatel on Nov 03, '03 01:36:21PM

From the first time that Apple introduced Labels, I've always changed my description to read "A - G", and changed the colours, so that A was always green (for ON) and B was always red (for OFF). Then, I labelled my cdevs and extn green and the disabled ones red. Any new installs were always unlabelled so I knew what was being installed/changed.

What I need is to be able to re-assign colours. Anyone have a go at this yet?
