10.3: Faster force quit and Logout options
Some brief testing on my system has indicated that having Unsanity's FruitMenu (the Panther-compatible beta, at least) disables this functionality, even if you have the 'Force Quit' menu option on there. Any contrary experience?
10.3: Faster force quit and Logout options
Correct. Having Fruitmenu installed seems to disable this for some reason. Not sure why, but Fruitmenu users (like us) should file a bug report with Unsanity.
10.3: Faster force quit and Logout options
These seem really dangerous! Is there some way (other than Fruit Menu) of disabling them?
10.3: Faster force quit and Logout options
if you open the apple menu and push option and/or shift, you'll see the keyboard shortcuts and menu times change dynamically (just like the finder) to show what the new shortcuts will do.
10.2: Logout options
The 'immediate log out' keys work in Jaguar as well, I have often used them to recover from a crashed full screen app (all right, game). dD
10.3: Faster force quit and Logout options
We are aware of the problem and it will be corrected in the FruitMenu update coming out sometime this week, hopefully. Keep an eye on www.unsanity.org =)
10.3: Faster force quit and Logout options
I noticed the day of release (I always play with new toys!) that this does not seem to work in Carbon Apps (the instant-kill one). Specifically, iTunes, Quicktime Player, and Word are not affected, while all Cocoa apps are.
Faster force quit and Logout options
This doesn't seem to work for me anymore. (10.4.3) The shift key still dynamically changes the selection in the Apple menu, to "Force Quit Safari" for instance, but the shortcut doesn't actually do anything. All my other keyboard shortcuts still work.
Faster force quit and Logout options
Yes, I have the same problem. Command-Options-Shift-Esc doesn't do anything but modify the menu item (well, that's just shift all by itself).
Faster force quit and Logout options
I filed a bug with Apple on this, and they told me to try holding down Cmd-Option-Shift-Esc for 5 seconds, and it works. (10.4.4) |
