Here's a quick one ... I loved spring loaded folders in OS 9, but there behavior in column-view mode in OS X was never quite right. Panther fixes this. By hovering a file over a folder in column view and hitting space bar (or waiting the amount of time determined in your Finder Preferences), the contents of the folder now spring open in the same column view window instead of opening a new window. Very nice.

In Jaguar the up-popping folder used the setting to determine if a new window had to be opende.

Panther Finder seems to be no different than Jaguar Finder. It still uses the Finder preference "Always open folders in a new window" for spring loaded pop-up folders. So, if that preference is checked, spring loaded folders will still pop-up from column view windows. |
