10.3: Use one column-view window and the sidebar Desktop
I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere, so it's new to me. Previously, I had sent Apple requests to implement spring-loaded folders in the toolbar. This still hasn't been implemented, but they did enable spring-loaded folders in the Finder sidebar. In my testing, the new folder appears in the current window if the window is in icon or column view. If the current window is in list view, it opens a new window.

This is a great enhancement if you work in column view and like to avoid having to have more than one Finder window open at a time, even when moving or copying files.

10.3: Use one column-view window and the sidebar

Spring-loaded folders in the toolbar always worked for me in 10.2.x- I was disappointed to see them *stop* working in 10.3. Yes, the sidebar has spring-loaded folders, but on my humble 12" iBook, it robs precious space in column view, and I find myself hiding it whenever possible (anyone have a hint for making the sidebar hidden by default?). So with 10.3, the net result is that I need to have 2 windows open if I want to do any housekeeping on my hard drive...

Yeah, this REALLY pisses me off. I like the sidebar, I really do, but dammit, I miss the spring-loaded toolbar folders.

Bug report? Feature request?

Hmm . . . I can't imagine someone would take this out intentionally. Bug report. ;-)
