iPhoto running under 10.2 does not allow a user with limited application rights to import picture files via the Import button. Pictures must be dragged to the iPhoto program. Here's the way to make it work. First, under the System Preference Accounts tab, enable the following applications:
Note: if you make any changes as to which programs the user is allowed to run, you must make these changes to the mcx_settings again. Hope these instructions make sense and will be of help to others.
- Image Capture
- iPhoto
- Image Capture Extension -- This is found on this path: Macintosh HD -> System -> Library -> Frameworks -> Carbon.framework -> Versions -> A -> Frameworks -> ImageCapture.framework -> Versions -> A -> Image Capture Extension.
- From Macintosh HD -> System -> Library -> Image Capture -> Devices, enable these devices: MassStorage, PTPCamera, TWAINBridge, Type1Camera, Type1Scanner, Type2Camera, Type3Camera, Type4Camera, Type5Camera, Type6Camera, Type7Camera, Type8Camera.
<key>AllowUnbundledApps</key>
<true/>
A picture of where exactly to add the two lines of text can be found in the Apple Support article linked above regarding Unbundled Applications. Copy all the text in the textedit file and paste it back into the mcx_settings property. Update NetInfo and restart the computer.
Note: if you make any changes as to which programs the user is allowed to run, you must make these changes to the mcx_settings again. Hope these instructions make sense and will be of help to others.
