Aw, bummer - since I'm in France, I'll be asleep when you start posting hints...

Of course, we get Pather here 6 hours before anyone in the US. ;-)

If for no other reason then to ask how to best do the upgrade without losing my Apple store and Audible account information from iTunes.

I'm currently assuming that I have to deauthorize iTunes first, do the install (an archive/upgrade) and then re-authorize iTunes.

Does this sound right?

Shouldn't have to do all that. A simple upgrade should be fine (was for me - developer).

I would back everything up, and in the end I plan to do a wipe and load for 100% reliability/performance with the final version. May not be needed, but it is my preferred method since I test a lot of products that probably end up only partially removed.

iTunes Authorization
Authored by: saint.duo on Oct 19, '03 11:30:50PM

I've archived and installed jaguar on my system a few times since purchasing songs for various reasons. Each time, I've only had to re-authorize this machine (not de-authorize and re-authorize), and it does not take up another one of my authorizations at Apple, as I have my other two machines authorized, also.

While release info for Mac OS X 10.3 has been announced, anyone heard diddly regarding release date for Mac OS X _Server_ 10.3?

I have great need of some of its features and am trying to plan a timetable... hard to do when I don't know its availability.

QA implies some sort of quality to begin with.

A question about shipping & stuff...

I've preordered Panther on the Apple Store. Will it arrive at my house on the 24th, or will they ship it on the 24th?

Does anyone know if developers will get discs shipped to them before the 24th? Or better yet, if I download the segments (which still have a beta version number), does the actual install says it's a beta? Anybody know for sure if the last beta is the actual golden master? Basically, I hate waiting. If answering these questions breaks the NDA, feel free to email me. Same name, mac.com.

Can anyone who's received the developer seeds tell me if in the course of updating from 10.2 to 10.3 the system will notice existing installs of the developer tools and X11 and take care to clean out those old installs? Just wondering if once I get my hands on 10.3 next week I'll need to bother removing them manually beforehand.

Thanks.

I believe that when you install the new Dev Tools and the new X11 that they will overwrite any trace of the old ones, you need not uninstall to re-install. Also, the old versions will work (with fewer features, but it will work!) so do not worry about it. May I ask why you're not doing a clean install? Panther's X11.app is now in /Applications/Utilities, so the one in /Applications will be old and you may delete it.

I have an ADC student membership (good until Nov.15). Does anyone know if Apple will mail Panther as part of the next ADC mailings, or should I go out and buy it?
