Copy iTunes 4.1 Music Store URLs Apps
I think this is new in the second generation music store, but you can control- (or right-) click songs and albums, select "Copy iTunes Music Store URL," and send these links to your iTunes-using friends.

The links open a Safari window, (or in Internet Explorer in Windows), closes it, and sends you to the corresponding album. If you copied the link of a song, it'll select the song for you. Great for recommending music to your friends!

[robg adds: This is documented in the new iTunes help, which I strongly suggest reading as it contains a number of other cool tips on getting the most out of the store -- including the fact that you can also drag the songs to the desktop, Mail app, etc. to create a link.]

Be sure to check out the iTunes Link Maker, also.

How to fix Apple's code
Authored by: uochris on Oct 21, '03 01:41:54PM

If you go to the ITMS link maker, the code that Apple gives you to copy and paste in to your web page doesn't work quite right with Safari v. 1.1. You need to add height and width tags and it will work as it should. I'm surprised they still haven't fixed this. Here's how it should be-

</script><Object classid="CLSID719897A-B07A-4C0C-AEA9-9B663A28DFCB" codebase="http://ax.phobos.apple.com.edgesuite.net/detection/ITDetector.cab"width="1" height="1" id="iTunesDetector">
</Object>

<Script language="Javascript" type="Text/Javascript" src="http://ax.phobos.apple.com.edgesuite.net/detection/itmsCheck.js"></Script>

i think the 'drag the song to your desktop' or where ever you want to paste it is the best way
is the easiest way, just drag the song, or whole album if you want to the location you want, like a text-field in iChat, and dun dun dun

If you copy the URL from iTunes and then replace the "http://..." with "itms://..." it will then go straight to iTMS and won't open the Safari window. I tested this and it seems to work.
