Send iCal reminders to multiple email addresses

Prior to iCal, I used other calendar tools that often had multiple address fields for emailing reminders. I'd often have an event send me regular email, and also send the reminder to my cell phone. Many digital plans in my area roll email text messaging into the regular contract.

iCal only has a single address field to send reminder emails, but it's simple to set things up to send a reminder to several addresses:

  1. In Address Book, locate your card and create a custom email field such as "Reminders."
  2. Add your multiple addresses, each seperated by a comma, i.e.:
    3105551212@mobile.att.net,foo@bar.com
  3. In iCal, create an event and in the Info window, switch to the alarm tab.
  4. Select the "Send email to me" box, and then select address that you set up in the previous step.
Now you'll receive multiple copies of the alarm, including one to your cellphone if you want.
