Personally, I hate how command-A in Quicken is "Show Accounts" instead of "Select All." While there is no menu item for "Select All," you can assign your own key commands to Quicken menu items (or change and delete the existing ones) by holding the Command key and selecting the menu item. This hint is documented by Intuit on their website for Q2003, but I have used it in Q2004 as well. It's documented but not as widely known as it should be!

Assign key commands to menu items in Quicken
Just confirming for all that this does -NOT- work in Quicken 2000. At least not on Move Transaction, which I desperately want to have a command.
Assign key commands to menu items in Quicken
Sorry everyone, I meant to type Quicken 2001 Deluxe.

Hoorah! I just used this on Quicken 2003 to finally give a key command to the Reconcile function. I've been wanting this for a very long time.
Assign key commands to menu items in Quicken
In Quicken 2003 Intuit changed the keyboard shortcut for "Print Checks" from Command+P to Shift+Command+P . ( Command+P now prints the Register.)

It's all fine and dandy that quicken allows you to modify key commands in some of it's versions, but what i think we all (should) know about is MenuMaster from Unsanity. It is flat out amazing, allowing you to modify any and all commands, even deleting/modifying predetermined ones.
Did I mention I'm an Unsanity whore?
Assign key commands to menu items in Quicken
Works well for all single lettered shortcuts, in Q 2003, but doesn't allow changing any shift or option lettered commands. Also, you have to delete exisiting commands before using them for something else. I tried to delete the command for hide Quicken (CMD + H), but when you follow the steps, Quicken hides itself and doesn't bring up the edit command key window. Anyway, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

This method for assigning keyboard shortcuts also works in Entourage. Somehow I had managed to lose the Command-K shortcut to "Send and Receive All" email, so I tried this and restored it. |
