Use Cocktail to install Software Restore applications

I wiped my 1Ghz iMac drive when it came from Apple and made my own fresh OS X volume from back up. Then I heard of a game called Otto Matic that was bundled with the iMac, and really wanted to try it. I first chose to install all additional apps from the DVD itself. This resulted in the trial MS Office intsalling itself over my own copy and giving me the trial period warning everytime I ran it. Yuck. So, I deleted it, along with all extra apps.

Still curious, I tried Pacifist to see if I could install only Otto Matic. No dice. So, I then thought of Cocktail: I opened it, and under the Interface tab, I set it to display invisible items. Presto! On the iMac software DVD was a folder labeled "Images" with disk images to all the extra apps. I simply dragged Otto Matic to my desktop and installed. Nice.

[robg adds: There are other ways of seeing the invisible folders, of course, including the Terminal.]
