After upgrading to Palm Desktop 4.1, iSync failed to synchronize iCal and Address Book. I found the logs in HotSync Manager and iSync helpful, indicating iSync conduit was "skipped," but would prefer to see an error message also. There are at least two similar osxhints, which are related and helpful, but not the whole story.
After disabling the Address Book, Date Book, and ToDo conduits in HotSync Manager, so that only iSync handled the synchronization, I again ran the HotSync from the Palm. It failed. I returned to the conduit settings in HotSync Manager and found the Address Book, Date Book, and ToDo inexplicably enabled. All of them. I disabled them again, exited cleanly, and returned. Again they were enabled.
After some puzzling. . .
The solution is to go to /Library -> Application Support -> Palm HotSync -> Disabled Conduits and delete the Address Book, Date Book, and ToDo conduits, which were all from 2002, and then move the newer versions (from 4.1) into that folder manually from the /Library -> Application Support -> Palm HotSync -> Conduits folder.
Success!
