Quickly import only selected songs from CDs into iTunes

It's easy to import a CD into iTunes by clicking the Import button. But what if you only want to import a few songs, but don't feel like unchecking those songs you don't want? It's simple. Just highlight (in the iTunes window) the song(s) on the CD that you want to import, then go to the Advanced menu and select 'Convert Selection to AAC' (or whichever file format you've chosen). That way, you don't have to de-select any song(s) you don't want in your library; only the song(s) you selected will be imported into your library.

Or...
how about you highlight the songs you want, and simply drag them to your Library?
Or...
You could also just command-click one checkbox (to uncheck everything), and then check all the ones you want imported. This seems to be less work than the original hint.

I need to add here, just for completion's sake, that you can easily deselect all the songs you want from a list (be it a CD or anything else) by command-clicking. The "Import" button is just a shortcut for "Import all that's checked". Checkmarks are contextual in iTunes and a great feature which should be used more, not avoided.

This is also very useful to convert a whole library to AAC when it starts getting to big in MP3!!! |
