How to resurrect a dead dual-monitor-patched iBook System
Did your iBook die when you applied the Dual Monitor patch? If so, here seems to be a fix for all the dead iBooks:
  1. Take out the battery.
  2. Hold Cmd & Power Button. The Reset Sound plays, keep the buttons down until the OS-ROM-Bootmanager appears.
  3. Type mac-boot
Now the iBook should start as usual. If the iBook still shows a black screen after the next restart, repeat the above steps, and then type the following in the Open-Firmware mode:
  reset-defaults
  set-defaults
  reset-all
This tip is not by me. I have just copied the instructions and translated them from MacTechnews.de, a German Mac site. I hope it works!

Sounds like a partially scrambled instructions for resetting the Firmware. Try these steps instead:

Shut down the computer. (Hold the power key down until the computer turns off).

Restart the computer holding "option"-"Command (the Apple Key)"-"P" and "R" all down together. The computer will keep chiming until you let go of these keys. Wait for 3 chimes and let go. On late model Macs with up-to-date software this is usually enough to get them going again.

If this does not work, shut down the computer again, restart holding "option"-"command"-"O" and "F" … this forces the computer back into the Open Firmware again.

Type the following:

  reset-defaults
  set-defaults
  reset-all
