When running a dual monitor setup on a laptop, I've always unplugged the monitor cable and plugged in the SVHS cable when watching DVDs and the like. What I found out today is that, when having both monitor cable and SVHS plugged in, the second monitor part of the displays menu shows both PAL/NTSC resolutions as well as my monitor resolutions. Selecting a TV resolution made the monitor go idle and TV active, as well as vice versa. No more cable swapping!

Thanx!
I've been running my G4 PowerMac witha Radeon 8500 hooked up to two monitors and a television. Hitherto I've always disconnected the secondary monitor and rebooted to get the TV as secondary monitor. Now I just select the TV resolutions from the monitors menu. Thank you very much. Pointing this out was a lifesaver for me.
Running dual monitors and TV on a laptop
Doesn't work for me. Or at least, it doesn't seem to. I have a PowerBook G4 with a 17 inch Apple Studio Display (CRT) attached, and the S-video cable going into my TV. Thusfar, only monitor resolutions are shown. But I'll play with it and see what I can find.

I've found that on my 15" TiBook that I can plug in a TV via s-video cable while the computer is running, hit the "detect displays" button in the displays preference pane, and then the computer detects the TV and shows me the TV resolutions.
