A fix for Address Book crashing on new or imported cards Apps
My Address Book was consistently dying whenever I tried to make a new card or import a card. I found the solution when I launched Adress Book from the command line -- it logged errors as it crashed. Turns out the file /System -> Library -> Find -> JapaneseTokenizer is mandatory for Address Book to work correctly. Who knew?

[robg adds: I took one for the team and tested this (after backing up my Address Book data!), and it's definitely true -- rename the JapaneseTokenizer file, and Address Book bails if you try to create a new record. Restore the original filename, and it works fine. I'm not sure how one would lose this file in the first place, however ... but if you're having odd Address Book problems, make sure this file still exists.]

My Address Book is screwing up and, as it turns out, I don't have the file mentioned. I didn't install Japanese localization when I installed Mac OS X. Yet Address Book worked fine for months. Do I need to install Japanese localization to get this file or is there a way to add the file needed?

Am having the same problem, but I think it is due to my using a shareware program called Macaroni. It's a utility program that, among other things, can remove 100s of MB of "unused" (or so I thought) language files...bottom line, anyone know how I can obtain the aforementioned Japanese file without reinstalling Panther?
