If you would like to use the video chat feature in iChat AV with someone but only one of you has a webcam (or microphone for that matter), then you can control-click on a buddy and select "One-way video chat" (or "One-way audio chat").

Use one-way audio and video chats in iChat AV
In addition to control-clicking, you can choose "Invite to One-Way Video Chat" from the buddies menu after selecting a buddy.
Minimum requirements
At least for the beta of iChatAV, it seems you must have at least a 600MHz G3 in order to be able to receive the video (same requirements for sending video). I'm on a RAM loaded Pismo (G3 500MHz) and when someone tries to send one-way video I get a message that video is not supported on this system.

Does anyone know if this will work when the person receiving from me cannot use iChat? They would be using AIM on a G3/300 or a PC.

I cannot get the one way video show up when I control click. The one way vdeo selection is grey and prevents me from clicking it. What is wrong? Thanks |
