I have heard many people complain about iMovie, etc. not supporting the iSight. However, QuickTime Broadcaster (a free download from Apple) does. You can save the video to disk in many formats, including DV, from where you can then use the footage in iMovie, etc.. You can also tweak the color settings on the camera.

Use the iSight as a basic digital video camera
yeah, this is a good hint to let people know that there are other video capture programs out there. our friends at www.macdevcenter.com just posted an article about how to film footage using the iSight. just remember that you need QuickTime Pro, however, which costs another $30.
btv for video capture
BTV and BTV pro both recognize and capture video from the iSight, as well as allowing adjustment of the cameras settings -
hack to save to stream?
Is there any hack or software to convert a video image through quicktime to a DV stream instead of saving as a DV file? Perhaps a pipe to a video device or something? A kernel extension? Something????? It seems USB or Firewire cams would then be available in iMovie.
hack to save to stream?
If you spend the $30 to upgrade to QuickTime Pro it will save any QuickTime movie to a DV stream.
