Use Safari with the Address bar hidden Web Browsers
I like having the Address bar hidden in Safari. This saves space. When the address bar is hidden, you can press Command-L to show it and enter any URL, and when you press Return to confirm it, the Address Bar automagically slides away.

Furthermore, when you open new tabs/windows, you can enter URLs even though the Address Bar is hidden. This might be considered a bug, though.

[robg adds: How very odd -- you can, indeed, enter URLs with an invisible address bar on a new tab or window!]

After you have entered Command-L and typed an url the window keeps the new size with bar, as without the bar, so your are back to 'normal' size. So if you want the extra space you can't type an url without resizeing the window! But anyways a get tip!

By the way you can type command + shift +l to hide the url-bar if pressed command +l, without entering a url.

Sadly, in camino, you can't use bookmark keywords anymore when doing this :(

So how do you hide the address bar ?

Command L doesn't do it.

A quick look under the View menu will reveal that that's the shortcut for toggling the Status Bar, not the Address Bar.

Cmd-\ toggles the status bar, at the bottom of the browser window.

Cmd-Shift-\ (or "Cmd-|" if you prefer to look at it that way) does toggle the address bar.

Please have exact change.

I first discovered this feature in Explorer a loooong time ago. It's pretty neat, but pretty old.
