A quick method of toggling iTunes MP3/Audio CD burning

If you're like me, you burn both MP3 CDs and Audio CDs regularly, and find it's a pain having to jump into preferences every time just to check what format to burn into. And finding half the time it's already set to what you wanted.

Then today I stumbled upon this deceptively simple workaround (even simpler than this hint a while back).

  1. Leave your setting to burn Audio CD's.
  2. Try and burn a playlist with ~20+ songs (or longer than 80 minutes)
  3. iTunes comes back with a sweet dialogue box which lets you temporarily switch back to MP3 CD (or lets you burn a partial Audio CD)
Voila! The only caveat is that if you want to burn an MP3 CD with a number of songs that conceivably fit on a regular Audio CD, you're out of luck. But who wants to do that?
