Enable iCal synching for SE P800 & Nokia 3650
Authored by: rainer3 on Jun 10, '03 11:12:27AM

I tried this yesterday and it didnt' work too well for me. When I used iSync to sync up iCal with my Nokia 3650, the dates for all of the "all day events" were shifted back by one day, e.g. all my birthday entries were listed on my phone as being a day ahead of when they were supposed to be. It also wiped out my iCal data. So... make backups before you try this endeavor. I just restored from my backup, so no big deal for me. just CYA.

I also get the off by one issue. Says Independence day is on July 3. I see why they had it disabled, but it sure seems like it would have been an easy fix for Apple. Oh well.

Works fine with a 7650..

Just for the record, I've tried it on my Nokia 7650 and it works a treat; calenders transfer perfectly in both directions; but obviously Apple are aware of the issue you're seeing or they'd have released it.

i tried it with my 7650 too, but after changing the SymbianConduitDefaults.plist it didnt work for me. the problem is now that after changing back to my original SymbianConduitDefaults.plist i cant sync the addressbook. i deleted all prefs about isync and reinstalled isync too, but no way.
any ideas?

(sorry about my bad english, its not my native language)

Worked great on my 3650, iCal items are on the day they're supposed to be. I do see however that the option to select the calendar(s) to sink under the .Mac prefs in iSync are greyed out (albeit all of them selected).

Sync Only Specific Calendars in iCal
Authored by: stewa on Jun 17, '03 10:13:56AM

Okay here's hwo to do this (since I've known how to do this, I really should have made it part of my hint submittal, but alas)-

Open up iSync (click the icon for P800, 3650, whatever). If you've already enabled iCal syncing through the hint you should see the Calendars section checked but greyed out. Your Contacts should be checked. Uncheck it. Now, oddly enough you have the ablity to choose "All" or "Selected". So just choose Selected then the check boxes for which specific iCalendars you want synced.

Alternatively, your iCal calendars appear in the SymbianConduitDefaults.plist as

<key>kNSSyncConduitFilteringCalendarFolderIDs</key>
<array>
<string>F 76538991.59</string>
<string>F 76539055.15</string>
<string>F 76539055.22</string>
<string>F 76539055.08</string>
<string>F 76539055.20</string>
<string>F 76539055.16</string>
</array>

Those <string>s coorespond to your specific calendars. The relationship to iCal creation I do not know. But you can delete and replace them and open iSync again and see what has been eliminated.

I've changed the perf file to sync ical with my 3650, but only about 1/3 of the file transferred - it's at random - but about every 3rd day the events transferred. All of the items are in a single ical calendar, and it's not obvious (to me) if there are any differences in the events that transferred and those that did not. Insight would be appreciated.

My Palm has the same problem. It's an issue with annually repeating events. The "happen on this day every year" repeat doesn't work, so they happen 365 days later -- bad idea on a leap year.

OT- SE P800
Authored by: imageworx on Jun 11, '03 02:08:20PM

Ok, but where can I get my hands on a P800 ???
Nobody has them with getting a contract (and its pretty steep).
I have a T Mobile account and use the GSM dual band (or am I trying for the wrong phone?)

Try www.ebay.de or any other eBay in Europe. All networks in Europe are GSM so there are plenty of P800 available. But it is quite expensive. I think 700-750 Euro. Nokia 7650/3650 is less then 300 Euro.

No problems for me with addresses/isync - could the day shift problem be to do with when the week starts on P800/iSync?

Takes a very long time to complete though.

One feature that doesn't seem to work is sending SMS/Dialing via address book.
