Apple updated their Knowledge Base the other day, and one of the more interesting articles was iTunes4: Tips and Tricks. Many of the tricks listed are fairly well known, but there were a few I'd never seen before.

Everyone probably knows this, but you can generally extract and read the HTML files that make up an app's online help. For iTunes, you need to Show Package Contents on the app bundle, then go to Contents : Resources : English.lproj : iTunes Help : pgs. Same deal with iPhoto, and others.

Did I read this correctly? iTunes skips songs you bought at the music store in playlists? What's the use in buying music then?

It says, "If you're listening to all the songs in a shared library or playlist, iTunes skips any purchased music in the list. To listen to purchased music in a shared library or playlist, you need to double-click the song."

I've purchased a little music, and it is played no problem in various playlists. It also plays on my second computer via sharing, presumably since I've autheticated my second Mac as well.

Purchased Music
It does not skip purchased songs in your library or playlist, only in shared playlists. The computer using the shared playlist also has to be authorized for the music purchased. |
