Export album artwork from iTunes

Since the release of iTunes 4, there has been much talk on various message boards about the new Artwork feature. It seems not to be everybody's cup of tea to store the Artwork in the ID3 tag as it bumps up the file size ever so slightly.

For those of you who have already filled your library's worth of mp3's with the Artwork, but want to get rid of it and still keep all those album covers, here's a solution to export that Artwork back into it's own file.

Scouring the Net for info and bits of code, I've written an AppleScript that does the job neatly. A script called "Export Artwork" (it can be found at macscripter.net and malcolmadams.com) will take the Artwork from all selected tracks and export it to .pict file(s) for any given album. The resulting .pict can be viewed in the Preview application.
