Print PDFs from the desktop via the contextual menu Desktop
I'm not sure why I did it, but I had a few PDFs on my desktop that I needed printed.

In a moment of inspiration, I control-clicked (right-click if you have a multi-button mouse) on them and selected the "Open With" contectual menu, selected the "Print Center" and *poof* off they went to the printer.

Very handy for me. And I'll try and test this method on other docs, too.

Print PDFs from the desktop via the contextual menu

Just to clarify: After you choose "Open With", are you choosing
"Other..." from the contextual menu? On my machines, Print
Center does not show up in the contextual menu; I would have
to choose "Other...", then navigate to Print Center in the open
dialogue. By the time I've done that, it's quicker just to
doubleclick and hit command-P. Of course, if you have Zingg!
installed, you can set the preferences to show Print Center
always.

Alternatively, you can install OnMyCommand (from
abracode.com) and OMCEdit, and then download the "Print file"
command (submitted by yours truly). This will put a "Print file"
command in your contextual menu, and it can be used to send
PDFs, PostScript, text, and other files to the latest printer
you've used.

Just drop 'em on the Print Center

I have the Print Center in my Dock (even when not running). All
you need to do is drop the pdf's on Print Center and they'll print.

You're right. I have Print Center on my dock. At work with
multiple printers, just make sure you're aware of which printer
is your default printer before you drag. It's easy to change.

Drag and drop is the easiest way for me to print files on the
desktop. Especially since I'm too lazy (or should I say hopeful
OS9 will be gone once Entourage goes Exchange Server
compatible this Summer) to set up OS 9 printing on our
network. So in Outlook I just print to file on my desktop and
then drag the resulting file to the Print Center.
