Working with Speed Download, Safari, and IE Apps
Sometimes when I want to download something, Speed Download automatically opens and downloads the file; sometimes not. If it launches, though, Safari crashes after a while.

If you want to prevent this but use the plug-in in Internet Explorer, you can delete the Speed Download plug-in out of the "Internet Plugins" folder. If you want to download something in IE with Speed Download, you just have to control-click the link and select "Download with Speed Download."

[robg adds: I have no experience with this as I don't use IE or Speed Download, but I thought this may be of interest to others.]

I don't know if this is the same thing, but I too thought that my
Safari had locked up when using Speed Download. What I found
is (at least I think) that when SD kicks in, the page you are
downloading from hangs. In older versions using IE, that page
would say something like "Click the back button if you are not
returned to the previous page...", or something to that effect.
So when the page locks, all I do is hit the back button and the
"pre download" page reloads.

I think it's just a minor incompatibility between Safari and
Speed Download. A hassle to be sure, but not a crash. At least
that's what I'm experiencing.

Hope that helps.

The most recent update of SD fixed that problem hanging. IT
now returns itself to the current page. I personally have not seen
the SD CMM for months. Is anyone else seeing it in Safari? I just
assumed it was not compatible.

I use Speed Download all the time and it works super well.

What version of Speed Download are you running?

My system has Mac OS X 10.3.4, and Speed Download 2.3.5 and no problems whatsoever; great software.
