Today's an iTunes4 day... Site News
With yesterday's release of iTunes4, I wasn't surprised to find over 20 hints submitted on the new program as of this morning. I've gone through and elminiated duplicates (the firewall pass-through information was particularly popular), leaving a large handful of good (some may disagree with that!) hints on using iTunes4. So that's all you'll see here today (beyond the Pick of the Week, of course).

Tomorrow we'll return to the regular mixture of stuff, but I thought it was worth getting these out early, as opposed to getting to them in a few days based on the normal schedule...

iTunes 4 Wish List

I'd like to start by both thanking and congratulating Apple. First to (mass) market with a solution to what has been viewed as a big problem. It's great, and it's fully-integrated with something that I always use anyway. Great.

Now then, some desires:
1) Bookmarking (or some sort of Save for Later) feature. I don't want to have to either buy it now or forget about it forever.

2) Album upgrade. Right now I have to do the math on certain albums... figure out how many songs I want and which is a better deal. I would like to be able to upgrade a single song purchase to an album purchase, preferably at any time, but at least within the same day or a week.

That's all I have for right now, but I wanted to go ahead and get them down before I forget them. Feel free to add your own.

One down, one to go...

Change your buying prefs to "cart" instead of "one click," and things sit in the cart until you buy them. I haven't checked through a restart, but they definitely survive quitting and restarting iTunes...

Just let stuff pile up in the cart, and hit "buy" when ready.

That reply sincerely rocks... thanks. And the shopping cart is way cool. Still, it would be really nice to be able to, say, bookmark a search or a page that you find while browsing. I have found that, with this large database (which can and will get much larger) and the very high quality of the sample clips, it's really easy to get into a "music surf", very similar to web surfs that get out of control. And you just find so much good stuff that you want to remember, but not necessarily buy now. Of course, like you said, the cart definitely helps with that. Obviously I'm asking for everything after a first release, I know :)
