The latest release of Watson (v1.7) now supports using older Sherlock v.1 and v.2 and MyCroft plugins. It is not exactly mentioned in the README file, or any of the online docs either. There are some docs specific to Sherlock plugins located within the package, though. You can read them by control-clicking on Watson, selecting "Show Package Contents," then navigating to Contents -> PlugIns -> SiteSearch.WatsonTool -> Contents -> Resources -> English.lproj -> instructions.html. The jest of this document is:

  1. Open Watson 1.7, select "Site Search" tool.
  2. Select Tool Menu -> Settings to access the "Site Search" tool settings. Check the box to "Use Sherlock 2 Plugins."
  3. Quit Watson.
  4. Install your Sherlock 1 & 2 plugins in ~/Library/Internet Search Sites.
  5. Restart Watson, go to "Site Search" tool and you should see your Sherlock plugins in the drop down menu.
You will need to relaunch Watson for new plugins you add to the Internet Search Site dir to show up.

After playing with this a bit today I went in search of all those old Sherlock 2 plugins I used to use in OS 9 days. Most of the sites have dried up, though, so it's a bit hard to find the plugins. Here's a quick list of sources for Sherlock Plugins I culled from a few mins of searching this afternoon:[robg adds: There are probably many others out there if you do a bit of Googling...]
