It may be stupid but true, you can link to pictures on Safari's bookmark bar. Simply drag any image (even one that's not hyperlinked) to the bookmark bar and Safari will add it just like a weblink.

[robg adds: At first, I thought this hint would put actual images on the toolbar; it doesn't, of course. But the fact that it works even for unlinked images is interesting. Based on this hint, I tried dragging some text to the toolbar just to see what would happen, but it didn't work.]

Um, well, yea. Just because it's not linked to, an image is referenced by the same mechanism as a page. It has a URL (how do you think it's put into the page?) and just because it's not a TEXT/HTML media type, that doesn't make it any less of a legitimate participant in your browser. If you had a reasonable way of seeing a proxy for the file, you could put an audio clip in the bookmarks or any other media type.

You can also drag a link to the bookmark bar. <p>

I use this on tolkienonline.com. When I get to the end of a thread, there's a link at the bottom to what will be the next post, when it is written. I drag that link to my bookmarks bar, (and delete the old one). The next time I'm ready to read, there's my link, ready to take me to the right page, and the right target. I noticed this also works in Chimera.
