Sherlock channel development and 10.2.4 System
Sherlock Channel developers:

If you've update to 10.2.4 you must set the environment variable "SHERLOCK_DEBUG_CHANNELS" to "1". It is recomended that you use this Tech Q&A to do it. The update may also have reset your server and/or its httpd.conf file (if you don't know what that files is, just check that your server is running in the "Sharing" Preference Pane).

httpd.conf modified

the 10.2.4 update saves your httpd.conf to httpd.conf.applesaved, and then replaces httpd.conf. It appears that this is only to add and enable the new Rendezous apache mod.

if you've modified your httpd.conf (for example to enable php, or add mod_mp3 for example) you will have to modify your httpd.conf again.

I used BBedit's "Show Differences" to make short work of this.

the two specific things that whack out PHP support based on Marc Liyange's package are the following lines:
DirectoryIndex index.html index.php AddType application/x-httpd-php .php
Add them back in and everything should be fine. Note that you may have additional DirectoryIndex entries (index.cgi, index.pl, index.shtml) that need to be restored.

open terminal and type:

cd /etc/httpd/
diff httpd.conf httpd.conf.applesaved

a nice summary of the differences will come up. To make edits in pico (an easy to use and FREE text editor that runs from the command line):

sudo pico httpd.conf

and make the changes. To make it extra easy, open a second terminal window and type:

pico /etc/httpd/httpd.conf.applesaved

You can then cut text from the second window and paste it right into the first!

To reboot Apache from the command line, just:

sudo apachectl graceful

That's it, your up and running. You did make backups just in case, right?

This hint is totally bogus. It doesn't tell why one needs to set SHERLOCK_DEBUG_CHANNELS to true and what doesn't work if it is not set. The fact that developers run Sherlock under Project Builder where SHERLOCK_DEBUG_CHANNELS is already set seems to have escaped the author as well.
